Solo
Gabriel began playing the guitar when he was in Middle School, and almost immediately after began writing songs. He played electric guitar in High School with The Paper Planets, a reggae/rock trio which wrote all of their own songs.
Songwriting for Gabriel is an essential creative outlet. He feels he is able to express his feelings and insights about the world through songs in a way that is closer to the truth of his experience than anything else. Musically he always tries to push the boundaries in his songwriting, to write something different than what he has written before. Whether finding a new chord he hasn’t used yet, or creating a new song structure, he constantly looks for something new. Lyrically, he is most often drawn to sing about the spiritual and the transcendent. Asking, and maybe answering, some of life’s big questions. He writes about the ways in which we as human beings (and he as a human being) are trying to find peace and comprehension of what this great cosmic mystery we call life really is.
In 2020 Gabriel began recording his first solo album of his original songs, entitled “Infinity is One”. He has raised $5,400 from over 90 separate donors to fund its recording. He recorded to tape in Newburgh, NY with Aaron Latos, and at Cassandra Studio in Beacon, NY. Then he mixed it fully analog with Paul Antonell at The Clubhouse in Rhinebeck, NY. “Infinity is One” will be out in 2024.
